This self-paced, online course provides a comprehensive overview of Rhode Island’s state-specific laws and regulations governing mortgage lending practices. Participants will review regulatory oversight by the Rhode Island Department of Business Regulation, borrower protections under the Rhode Island Home Loan Protection Act (RIHLPA), and fair housing obligations established by the Rhode Island Fair Housing Practices Act. The course also addresses state requirements related to title insurance, attorney selection, prepayment penalties, and loan fee disclosures. By focusing on Rhode Island’s statutory framework, licensees will strengthen their understanding of consumer protections, avoid prohibited conduct, and maintain compliance while promoting ethical, transparent, and fair mortgage lending practices throughout the state.
